Emails, Lies and Rumors

October 2, 2008, 19:03 pm

A friend of mine recently wrote a post addressing many of the dreams and conspiracy theories that are swarming around. I couldn't agree with him more.

Those who are focused on these rumors are focused on the wrong thing. We chase down those rabbit holes of conspiracy theories and dooms day prophecies when we really should be spending time in the word of God. Studying our Bibles and making sure our hearts and minds are right with the Savior.

Will things get worse? Certainly. Will there be terrible things that will happen to Christ's followers? Without a doubt. Christ Himself foretold that happening. But we must not get distracted. The devil doesn't have to get us to follow him, only to take our eyes off of Christ.

While I haven't seen may of the emails that Evan talks about in his post, I have seen enough to believe that it goes around and I've seen enough of emails in my inbox that a simple Google search will show the truth, or fallacy, in the message.

Read Evan's post. Share it. Then get out your Bible and put your eyes and focus back on Christ.

You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.

Be of good cheer. For HE has overcome the world!

Brent, thanks for posting the

Brent, thanks for posting the rest of Matt 24:6. It speaks so well to the subject of conspiracy theories! I don't know why I never saw it that way before...

Thanks for the link too. The more people start realizing how ridiculous and even dangerous these things can be, the better. I'll be editing a few things and adding more information that I've found recently...

Blessings, Evan

I fully agree. I've quit

I fully agree. I've quit opening emails that are predicting anything anymore because predictions are useless. Relationships with people are what matter most, and our opportunity for sharing Christ with others is coming. Isn't that when people turn to God, in desperate times? I think NOW is the time we should be creating a "network" and structure in our churches to be able to reach others and show them His Light when they begin to come for answers and hope.

The Bible speaks very clearly

The Bible speaks very clearly about getting too excited over conspiracy theories in Isa. 8:11-13 (The Message):

11-15God spoke strongly to me, grabbed me with both hands and warned me not to go along with this people. He said:
"Don't be like this people,
always afraid somebody is plotting against them.
Don't fear what they fear.
Don't take on their worries.
If you're going to worry,
worry about The Holy. Fear God-of-the-Angel-Armies.
The Holy can be either a Hiding Place
or a Boulder blocking your way,
The Rock standing in the willful way
of both houses of Israel,
A barbed-wire Fence preventing trespass
to the citizens of Jerusalem.
Many of them are going to run into that Rock
and get their bones broken,
Get tangled up in that barbed wire
and not get free of it."

There is really only one real conspiracy that matters: the one between Christ and Satan, which has already been settled by His sacrifice on the Cross. As Brent said, we must choose to keep our eyes on our Savior Jesus Christ.
